DFest Playlist

my official statement of the week: DFest is better than Christmas.

even though there was no savior born on July 24 or 25 (well, atleast not that we know of) i would vote for it to be a national holiday. we could argue that music saves lives and therefore more than 100 cleansing melodies baptize the blue dome district each july! okay, getting carried away...for now, just being a holiday of sorts in the midwest will have to do.

started by Tom and Angie Green as a means to win a contest, DFest has grown in just a few years from a handful of bands to over 100 in 2007. it is a music smorgasbord. go to see Metro Station, learn about Stars Go Dim, RadioRadio and The Nightlife. check out The Black Crowes and fall in love with Paul Benjaman Band, Ben Kilgore and Motive for Movement. It's all about seeing a national act and learning more about the amazing music scene right here in our own backyard.

i. love. dfest.

so i've put together a playlist of the artists i'm really excited about seeing. i couldn't fit all of them in order to stick to my 10 song restriction i've placed on myself.

for your convenience, i've also added what time they play at DFest and where so that you can check them out! oh, and because you were nice enough to read my blog, i'm letting you know how you can get $5 off when you buy your DFest tickets online: just enter code COXROX for the discount. you're welcome.

mans best friend

this passed week my dog Sonic (named after the video game Hedgehog and NOT the restaurant) was really sick. so sick that his poor little self had to stay in the animal hospital for two days with a tiny little IV stuck in his arm! it was so sad and pitiful, and i realized how much i love the little guy. he is my true friend. he never makes promises he can't keep, he's always happy to see me even if i've only been gone thirty seconds, he loves simple and free things like walks and trips to the park...what an amazing companion!

so i've put together a list of my favorite songs about dogs. this playlist is dedicated to Sonic, and i'm sure we will listen to it in the car while he sticks his head out of the window, another one of those free things he loves to do.

  1. The More Boys I Meet - Carrie Underwood

  2. Hound Dog - Elvis Presley (history lesson: did you know that Elvis wasn't the first to record this song? his is just the most popular version. which leads us to number 3 on my list, which is the original.)

  3. Hound Dog - Big Mama Thornton

  4. Dog - Ben Folds

  5. Reversal of a Dog - Damian Dame, Highland Place Mobsters

  6. Woof Woof - 69 Boyz

  7. Who Let The Dogs Out - Baha Men (you knew this would be on the list.)

  8. Doggy Dog World - Snoop Dogg

  9. Never Been to Spain - Three Dog Night (a stretch. but it's by Three DOG Night. get it? just let me have it, okay?)

  10. Puppy Love - Lil Bow Wow feat. Jagged Edge

that's my playlist for my puppy! what's your favorite song about dogs?
